Back!

If you haven't blogged for a while does that mean that you are 'backblogged'?? Surprised by my unusual silence, I do feel that it is time to commit some thoughts to print, even if no-one seems to have missed my musings! The trouble with being old-fashioned is that you always feel that you have to have something of great importance to say if you are committing it to print, but that's certainly not current thinking. The lines between speech and print have long since been blurred and electronic conversations are almost the order of the day. The down-side of that though is that meaningful, well-articulated communication can be relegated and replaced by 'convenience colloquialism' or, worse, 'techno-babble'. Just as oratory has retained some value as an art, I would hope that fine writing will remain a goal for all. There's balance and beauty in well-crafted prose, but it requires discipline and time to produce.  Sadly, as the standard modern multi-tasker knows only too well, time is of the essence....
