Rowing News
The 2009 edition of the Shawnigan Lake School Regatta took place over Mother's Day Weekend. Sunny skies greeted the scores of high school athletes on Saturday and the rain mercifully held off until after the final race finished on Sunday. The threat of inclement weather on day two did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the School's top rowers, who exceeded even their own expectations by claiming first place in nearly all of the Regatta's marquee events.
The Senior Men's program built off their success at last weekend's Windermere Cup by winning not only the 8+ race, but also the 4+. Not to be outdone, the Senior Women were victorious in the 8+ and the 4+, as well as claiming victory in the pairs competition!
Details on additional races will follow, and the full results, when posted, will be available at www.sls.bc.ca/regatta.
Tim Coy and Danielle Beare have their crews firing on all cylinders heading into the CSSRA National Championships in St. Catharines, ON, and the two coaches and their assistants now face the unenviable task of selecting the entries to represent the School at the end of the month. Stay tuned for further updates as Shawnigan again seeks to prove our dominance on a national scale!
