The Power of a Gift

The Annual Fund is the foundation of fundraising at Shawnigan. It is a yearly appeal to alumni, parents, staff and friends that supports the School's most pressing needs and promising opportunities. Whether you give $100 a year or $10,000, support of the Annual Fund has an immediate and powerful impact on students and is instrumental to Shawnigan's ability to continue redefining the boundaires of education and moving forward with confidence, inspiration and strength.

While many people show their support of Shawnigan through gifts to capital campaigns and endowments, a gift to the Annual Fund every year is critical to the School's present and future success. The world-class facilities and grounds, the exceptional faculty and all the extras that come from an education at Shawnigan are due to the generosity of our community during the Annual Fund drive. Your participation is important; there is strength in numbers. Your enduring and consistent support is what makes Shawnigan the special place it is!

Your gift to this year’s Annual Fund can help support: 

• The Headmaster’s Fund – Perhaps the most powerful gift, you help the Headmaster by giving him funds to use in the best possible way when opportunities arise.
• The Shawnigan Fund – Provide the gift of education to one of every four Shawnigan students who would otherwise not be able to be a part of the Shawnigan experience.
• Founder's Statue Fund – Celebrate Shawnigan's upcoming Centennial in 2016 by helping create a larger-than-life bronze statue that pays tribute to the School's founder, C.W. Lonsdale.
• E.D.G.E. Leadership Trips – Allow our students to travel to third world countries and learn the gift of giving back by supporting local community initiatives and providing them with a truly global education.
• Tour Assistance Funds – Help send our rowing program on their annual trip to the National Championships in St. Catharines, Ontario, or our Senior Rugby team on tour during the March Break.
• Program Enhancements (The “Wish List”) – Purchase new lab equipment for the science department, send a boarding house on a special outing to promote friendships and bonding, or support one of the many other areas of the School you believe in.
