Vito Pasquale

Vito is House Director of Lake’s, Sr. Boys Basketball Coach, and teaches Socials 9 and 10. Originally from Sudbury, Ontario, Vito was recruited to play basketball at the University of Victoria where he earned a B.A. in Geography. His successful university team won three National Championships, narrowly missing a fourth. (With this kind of experience under his belt, it is no surprise that Vito is an award-winning basketball coach.)

After a successful four years at UVIC, Vito continued his studies at the University of British Columbia where he earned a B.Ed. His first teaching and coaching jobs were in Vancouver; he spent 10 years at Vancouver College followed by two years teaching (part-time) at West Point Grey Academy. The part-time appointment was ideal, allowing him to care for his small daughter and to coach the Men’s Basketball Team at UBC.

A father of two children, daughter Amica and son Milan, Vito is married to Cathy – his high school sweetheart. Cathy is a math teacher by training and is currently on leave from Shawnigan to care for Milan and Amica. They were drawn to the island from Vancouver because it is such an attractive place to raise a family.

The change to a boarding community has been a positive one for the Pasquale family. Like all Shawnigan families, they appreciate the close-knit community and, even after many years, are constantly amazed at the level of commitment demonstrated by their colleagues.
